Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese Contemplates Future After Challenging Season

Chicago’s Sky and star player Angel Reese ended the 2025 season on a troubling note. After expressing concerns about her future, mentioning that “I might have to move in a different direction and do my best for me,” questions began swirling about her status with the team.

The organization reportedly intervened following what they described as “harmful” comments made by Reese. Speculation intensified when she missed the last three games of the season due to what was termed a back injury, suggesting that her relationship with the team might be in jeopardy.

However, Jeff Pagliocca, the general manager of the Sky, asserted that Reese will remain with the team for now, emphasizing, “That’s the direction we move; that means she’s on the roster.” He characterized Reese as a rising young talent who has contributed significantly during her time in Chicago.

Pagliocca spoke positively about Reese’s potential, stating, “We obviously went through something. It feels like we’ve closed that chapter. She’s a special player.” He conveyed that communication had been reinstated between Reese and her teammates, allowing them to move forward collectively.

Reese has also made her stance clear on team improvement, insisting that acquiring better players is something she sees as “unnegotiable.” She expressed her frustration, stating, “I’m not settling for the same situation we had this year.” Her comments reflect a strong desire for change within the team’s dynamics.
