Sky’s Teresa Weatherspoon storms out of presser after loss to WNBA-worst Mystics

Theresa Weatherspoon couldn’t take it anymore.

Weatherspoon, head coach of the Chicago Sky, dropped to 4-8 this season after a brutal 83-81 loss at home to the WNBA’s last-place Washington Mystics on Friday night.

At the post-match press conferenceMr Weatherspoon answered questions for around four minutes before storming off in a rage and anger.

What infuriated her was when she was asked, “How are you going to use this as a benchmark for your next games against the Fever and Wings to see if you need to make any changes?”

Earlier in the press conference, the same reporter asked Weatherspoon whether he was considering making any changes to the starting lineup after the Mystics’ sluggish start, with the team leading 20-6.

“I’m not thinking about that. I’m thinking about going out and winning and we’ll find a solution,” Weatherspoon said when asked a variation of the question for the first time.

Weatherspoon was a national champion at Louisiana Tech University and had a nine-year professional playing career in Italy and Russia.

When the WNBA was founded in 1997, she played for the Liberty and was a five-time All-Star.

Weatherspoon later served as head coach at his alma mater and as an assistant coach with the Pelicans in the NBA before joining the Sky this year.

The Sky have lost five of their last six games.

Weatherspoon probably didn’t want to hear a reporter say it out loud, but the Mystics, who were 1-12 before Friday night, were a classic trap game for the Sky.

The Sky will face Caitlin Clark and the Fever in a highly anticipated match on Sunday in Indiana.
