Analysis of Trump by Michael Smerconish
In a recent episode, CNN’s Michael Smerconish expressed that President Donald Trump was in a strong position last week.
“I’m providing an objective look based on recent events,” he explained, sharing data that supports his observations. He quoted David’s words and referenced a column by Sarena Jeet, emphasizing the need to reflect on Trump’s impact. “It’s vital to be aware of what’s really happening around us,” he asserted.
Smerconish engaged the audience with a poll about their willingness to acknowledge Trump’s influence. Toward the conclusion of the show, he disclosed that 72% of respondents admitted to being closed off regarding their feelings about Trump.
Trump’s Potential as a “Hero”
He acknowledged the sentiments of those in the 72% bracket, noting, “I respect your stance. It’s not that I’m happy about your closed mindset, but it shows honesty.” He continued, noting that it’s a challenging moment, highlighting, “It took two weeks for this program to kick off, and while Trump hasn’t won everyone over, he’s certainly active.”
Last week, the Trump administration boasted achievements such as a military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear sites and a potential ceasefire between Iran and Israel, alongside NATO agreeing to increase defense funding following Trump’s requests.
The Supreme Court also decided to limit a nationwide injunction that had previously constrained some of Trump’s executive actions.
While Smerconish criticized Trump’s strategies, he suggested that the media’s ongoing negativity might inadvertently contribute to Trump’s chances for re-election. “It’s reminiscent of parenting—if you continuously tell people what they can’t do, they might just push back harder,” he noted.
