Smokey Robinson under investigation by police following assault claims from four former staff members

Smokey Robinson is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. This follows accusations of sexual assault from four anonymous former employees.

On Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an investigation has been initiated based on a lawsuit filed the previous week against the 85-year-old singer. A representative from the Sheriff’s Special Victims Department stated, “The investigation is in its early stages and there is no further comment.”

The attorney for Robinson, Christopher Frost, expressed awareness of the police report tied to the lawsuit, suggesting a clear understanding of the situation. He said, “This just means that the police need to investigate now. We welcome that investigation, including plaintiffs who continue to hide their identities, as their exposure to the truth is strong.”

Furthermore, Frost claimed, “The determination has been made that Mr. Robinson has not been wrong, and I am sure this is a desperate attempt to make public opinion and create even more media circus than the plaintiffs could have created before.”

Frost went on to dismiss the allegations in the lawsuit as unfounded, suggesting they aimed to damage the reputations of both Smokey and Francis Robinson.

According to the lawsuit, Robinson is accused of assaulting and raping four former housekeepers at his Chatsworth home between 2006 and 2024. The plaintiffs are seeking $50 million in damages.
