Snoop Dogg overcomes fear of horses at Olympics dressage

Snoop Dogg’s popularity continues.

The greatest hip-hop artist of all time is a fixture at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, and was another highlight over the weekend.

Despite his self-admitted fear of horses, the Long Beach, California native dressed up in costume and competed in a dressage event with longtime friend Martha Stewart.

Snoop works for NBC and is helping cover the Olympics, as he will do during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

“I’m interested in the dancing horses and I want to feed them carrots and apples… I want to make sure they’re fed before they dance,” Snoop said earlier this week.

Stewart discussed the idea of dressage for both her and Snoop.

“Snoop called me and said, he knows I know a lot about horses, but he’s a little scared of them,” she told NBC News on Friday.

Snoop agreed, but added that he still felt scared.

“I’m still scared of horses,” Snoop said.

“Have you ever ridden a horse?” Stewart asked.

“No,” Snoop insisted. “I’m scared.”

“So I’m going to do dressage,” Stewart said.

And so it turned out.

Of course, Stewart understands Snoop’s concerns well, but he’s determined to make sure they don’t become an issue.

“We’re going to have to keep him away from the horses,” Stewart said, “and we’re not going to feed him, we’re not going to give him any sugar or anything. But we’re going to have a blast.”
