The Disney live-action Snow White remake became an even more hit this week after Lebanon banned screenings within the country as film star Gal Gadot is Israeli and activist on behalf of her country.
Variety reported on Lebanese Home Minister Ahmad al-Hajar on Wednesday I made a decision Pulling movies to Lebanese films and media watchdog alvest.
The representative of Italian Film, a Middle Eastern company that distributes Disney films throughout the region, confirmed with the outlet that Gadot is on the country’s “Israel Boycott List,” and said the film she starred in has never been released in the country. The news represents another set of films that had last month’s disastrous opening weekend. After making just $43 million domestically, the film fell out of No. 1 in the second weekend after earning just $14.2 million domestically.
Gadot, who played the evil queen in the film, was born in Israel and moved to the United States to begin his Hollywood career after serving in the Israeli Defense Forces.
She became a prominent activist in her home country following the October 7 attack on Hamastero and the subsequent wave of anti-Semitism that rose around the world.

In an interview with Variety in March, Gadot said she had marveled at the waves of Israel’s “hatred” since the attack, and that it moved her to protect her country.
“I was shocked by the amount of hatred, the amount of people I think I know when I’m not actually thinking about it, and the way the media is unfair over and over again,” she said. “That’s why I had to speak up.”
At a fame ceremony held in Los Angeles later that month, Gadot encouraged others to speak out in defense of Israel and the Jews.
“But this is a time when many of us in the Jewish community had to find our voices and confront our hatred towards us, even if it was extremely uncomfortable,” she said. “Even if it’s not really about you to speak, none of us can ignore the explosion of hatred among Jews around the world anymore.”
Anti-Israeli protesters clashed with pro-Israeli protesters near the ceremony, threatening to confuse the event, leading to multiple arrests.

Gadot also led a Hollywood screening of 47-minute Israeli defensive footage of the atrocities committed on October 7th a month after the attack. On the day of the attack, she denounced the wild terrorist law by writing on social media, “I’m standing with Israel, you should too.”
Gadot’s pro-Israel stance was rumoured to have caused friction between her and Zegler, who sparked the film’s controversy by sharing “and always free Palestine” on X in August.
Variety also reported that Lebanese censors blocked the country’s release of Captain America: Brave New World in February, as the film’s actress Sillahath is also Israeli.
Gadot representatives did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
