Soccer fans get to 8 months for Vinícius Júnior abuse

Three Spanish football fans have been sentenced to eight months in prison and banned from football stadiums for two years for making racist remarks towards a Brazilian player.

During a match between top soccer teams Real Madrid and Valencia in May 2023, Valencia fans shouted racist chants at the stadium towards star player Vinicius Junior.

The match at Mestalla Stadium was postponed for around 10 minutes after a player nicknamed Vini Junior addressed the crowd and asked the referee to stop using racist language.
