Abby Wambach Leaves Wasserman Agency Over Epstein Connection
Abby Wambach, renowned for her contributions to the U.S. women’s national soccer team, has decided to part ways with the Wasserman Agency following revelations about its founder’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Documents released by the Justice Department indicate that Casey Wasserman, the agency’s founder and CEO, engaged in flirtatious email exchanges with Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of Epstein, back in 2003.
In one email, Wasserman mentioned to Maxwell, “I think about you all the time. So what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?” Maxwell responded with a question about their meeting, asking if “the fog [would] get so thick that you can float around naked on the beach and no one can see you unless they get close?” Wasserman’s reply was simply, “Or something like that.”
Wambach, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup winner, shared her decision to leave Wasserman via Instagram.
She voiced her sentiments regarding Wasserman, saying she believes he should resign. “I have resigned from the Wasserman Agency. I have read Casey Wasserman’s correspondence in Epstein’s files,” Wambach stated. “I know what I know and I follow my instincts and values. I will not participate in any business arrangement under his leadership.”
Further expressing her feelings, she mentioned, “I’m grateful to the agent I’ve known and trusted for almost 20 years. Casey should resign. He should go so that more people like me don’t have to. I’m not clear about the next step, and that’s okay. I just know I don’t belong anywhere.”
Wambach isn’t alone in her departure; other notable talents, such as recording artists Chapel Lawn and Chelsea Cutler, have also left the agency due to similar issues surrounding Wasserman.
Wasserman, for his part, acknowledged his regret over his past interactions with Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 on several charges, including sex trafficking. She is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence.
Wasserman stated, “I have never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As has been well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip on Epstein’s plane as part of a Clinton Foundation delegation in 2002, and I deeply regret having been associated with either of them.”
Currently, Wasserman has not faced any formal charges.
