Commemorative Social Security Cards for American Babies
In a unique initiative, infants born in the United States over the next six months will receive special Social Security cards to commemorate America’s 250th birthday. These limited-edition cards will be issued to babies born from July 2nd to December 31, 2026.
The cards will feature the Freedom 250 logo in black ink, signifying that the individual was born during this significant year for the nation.
Functionally, they will serve as regular Social Security cards. Parents can request them during the birth registration process at hospitals, birthing centers, or through licensed midwives, as part of the Enumeration at Birth (EAB) initiative.
However, any replacement or duplicate cards sought after this initial period will not carry the Freedom 250 marking, per the Social Security Administration (SSA).
“Freedom 250 is a celebration of America’s storied history and the monumental moments that have shaped our nation, including the creation of Social Security over 90 years ago,” noted SSA Commissioner Frank J. Bisignano. He emphasized that this program marks a significant moment for the next generation, as they will receive these unique Social Security cards. “Under President Donald J. Trump, we are strengthening Social Security, improving service, and building an SSA to serve Americans today and in the future,” he added.
This effort is part of a wider initiative by the Trump administration to honor the country’s independence anniversary this year.
During the same weekend, President Trump also revealed a design for a new limited-edition U.S. passport featuring his likeness, which will be distributed at the Washington Passport Agency while supplies last.
Additionally, the U.S. Mint has introduced limited-edition coins for the 250th birthday, with plans to circulate only 250,000 Semiquincentennial 2026 Declaration of Independence Quarters, giving everyday Americans a chance to collect them.
Millions of newborns will receive special Social Security cards celebrating America’s 250th birthday. “Under President Trump’s leadership, we’re strengthening Social Security, improving service, and building an SSA to serve Americans today and in the future,” tweeted Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
