We made it through another Friday, and here we are, sliding into the weekend. Big congrats to everyone who put in the effort this week; trust me, it’ll pay off.

I spent three days covering the US Open at Shinnecock Hills. Seriously, though, stop watering your veggies; it feels like a scam!

Don’t forget about that intense soccer match happening today. Oh, and the College World Series Championship kicks off this Saturday.

But let’s get real—Father’s Day is the big one. It’s that special day when dads across America settle in for twelve hours of golf, followed by a nice nap before the afternoon leaders take their swings.

Thinking back, one of my favorite Father’s Day memories is from about twenty years ago. I watched the final round of the 2008 U.S. Open with my dad. Twenty years—it’s wild how time slips away.

On another note, Jenna Sims sent Brooks Koepka off in style during this not-so-great US Open. And what’s up with that baseball manager going a bit overboard with the beer?

If you need a reminder, that U.S. Open was, without a doubt, the best one I’ve seen. I mean, it was unforgettable: Tiger Woods versus Rocco Mediate. Tiger was battling an injured knee, but somehow managed to pull through.

Welcome to the Friday Nightcap. I saw Sofia Vergara rooting for Colombia at the FIFA World Cup.

What else is happening? Joaquin Niemann had a meltdown in Southampton, Jazz Chisholm got hit by foul balls in less-than-ideal areas, and the Knicks’ parade yesterday had some Hall of Fame-worthy moments.

Things got pretty wild: one man nearly lost his life, a woman fell from a traffic light and didn’t make it, and another guy might end up on an NFL roster this summer. It’s a lot to unpack.

Anyway, make sure to wear your protective cup just in case Joaquin Niemann decides to swing his club nearby. Let’s settle in for tonight’s festivities!

Great Day for Joaquin Niemann!

I’m feeling upbeat today. Let’s keep the vibes high. Plus, with it being Friday and a lot of folks tuned into the USA game, I think I might leave work a little early.

Speaking of dramas, Joaquin Niemann lost it yesterday in Southampton. He reportedly hit his iron “about 50 yards” during a bit of a meltdown on the sixth hole.

Locals and the USGA have noted that he was furious after struggling with fire ants and literally kicked white flags and sand, even launching an iron into the fescue.

As a result, the USGA slapped him with a two-stroke penalty for his behavior. He wrapped up the hole with a score of 11.

“This action was classified as serious misconduct under Rule 1.2b,” the USGA commented.

What a Week!

I still can’t believe the level of drama yesterday! Crazy, right?

To give him credit, Niemann came roaring back today with seven birdies. Looks like he’s preparing for the weekend ahead.

It’s really about how we recover, isn’t it?

By the way, 50 yards? That’s nothing. I once tossed a club twice that distance back in Munich.

Onward…

Catch up with some of the week’s best moments. Last night, two major leaguers famously took foul balls right off their bodies. Always protect yourself!

Knicks Parade & Other Shenanigans!

This week has been fantastic. Everyone really showed up. No doubt about it.

Here are some takeaways:

  1. How did you feel about Shinnecock? I shared my thoughts this morning, and people were really frustrated with how easy it seemed to play.
  2. I’ve never seen a player get tossed from the game for taking a foul ball to the groin. Why aren’t jazz players wearing cups anymore? Seems like a risky move.
  3. Propel beats Gatorade, hands down. Just saying.
  4. I spent the day listening to foreigners discuss American barbecue. It’s oddly fascinating.
  5. Happy to see Sofia Vergara can still throw a fastball—like that was ever in doubt.

Now, let’s rev up for this Friday’s goings-on. First up? The Knicks parade had some of the best moments, with antics like toe-sucking and a police officer losing a shoe.

What a day it was!

That man’s crazy actions were something else. Agility should be appreciated, even if it might lead to some rough landings. Try to pull something like that at MetLife, and you’d be getting a year-long ban.

Toe-sucking? Not a fan, but okay. That woman’s technique to drag another away from a traffic light? Impressive, I guess. Just wait for the next scene.

What a spectacle! Glad I’m settled in Florida now; not planning to leave anytime soon.

That’s all for today and this week. Thanks to everyone for your hard work.

Oh, and here’s Sophie Cunningham putting on a show before she lost to Angel Reese last night.

See you Monday!
