Sofía Vergara Misses Emmy Awards Due to Health Issue
Sofía Vergara faced a health scare over the weekend, which led to her absence from the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. The “Modern Family” actress, who is 53, took to social media on Sunday to explain her situation.
In an Instagram post, Vergara shared a series of photos, including a close-up of her swollen eyes, captioning it, “I didn’t get to Emmy, but I got to Er🤣😩. I’m sorry, but I had to cancel! The craziest eyes [allergy] just before getting in the car! 🤣🤣.”
Sofía Vergara’s Recent Health Challenges
Along with her eye issues, Vergara posted a video of herself in a hospital bed, rinsing her eyes with water. Comments from her “America’s Got Talent” co-stars reflected concern. Heidi Klum, for instance, expressed her shock, asking, “What…?” while another peer wished her well.
Fans also chimed in, hoping for her speedy recovery. One comment read, “OMFG hopes you can make you feel better, Sweety.” In a light-hearted note, another fan mentioned that Vergara would still be the “hottest woman in the room” even with her eyes covered.
A representative for Vergara hasn’t responded to inquiries from news outlets regarding her condition.
This health incident marks a challenging time for the actress, coming just two months after being hospitalized for another issue. Back in July, she had shared pictures after undergoing her second knee surgery, but details about that procedure were limited. “That’s done! Round 2🙏🏼❤️❤️ #Knee,” she had captioned one of the posts, where she appeared smiling, makeup-free, in her hospital gown.
Vergara has been open with her followers about her recent health challenges, having previously updated them during her surgical experience in April 2024.
