Simply put
- JD Vance shared heavily edited images on X, causing the Solana Meme Coin to spike 65% within an hour.
- The tokens, along with more memes, emerged after the US Vice President remarked to Ukrainian President Zelensky that he needed to express gratitude to America for its support against Russia.
- His repost of the meme caught attention, especially after reports surfaced of Norwegian tourists being turned away from the US for having the meme on their phones.
Solana Meme Coin saw a dramatic 65% increase in value shortly after the Vice President’s comments led to a whirlwind of memes on social media.
However, the token soon lost much of that initial gain, dropping 24% to a market cap of $4.65 million as of now.
The “Pwease” memes began circulating after Vance urged Zelensky to express thanks for US assistance in the conflict with Russia. Once it went viral, various Vance-related memes started to flood the internet.
The memes have depicted him humorously, like one particularly edited image with exaggerated features suggesting, “You have to thank you, Mistow Zensky.”
Initially, the memecoin reached a peak market capitalization of $54 million in early March, but it has since plummeted by 92%, now sitting at around $4 million.
Interestingly, Vance’s seven-month-old token had a revival on Wednesday after he reposted memes, which drew attention, particularly from political commentators questioning his background and education.
It’s also notable that he reposted similar memes after a Norwegian tourist claimed he was denied entry to the US due to having an image of Vance on his phone. Immigration agents labeled it as “dangerous extremist propaganda,” although the US Department of Homeland Security later contested this, stating the individual was denied entry due to prior drug use.
Meanwhile, Trump’s official meme coin has been stagnant, down 9% over the past week according to Coingecko. This token has faced nearly a 90% decline since its high shortly after launching in January.
This follows statements made during the US President’s address at the 80th UN General Assembly, where he asserted his viewpoints with notable confidence.
