Many Democrats appear to have quietly accepted that former President Donald Trump is likely to win the 2024 presidential election.
They are focused on polls that show Trump with a consistent lead in many of the so-called “battleground states.” They’ve been following the news of Trump’s criminal trial in Manhattan, where prosecutors may have been able to convince jurors but not the public or anti-Trump TV critics.
They are monitoring anti-Semitic violence on college campuses, which is a disaster for Democrats.
Biden claimed he ran for president because of the neo-Nazi riots in Charlottesville in August 2017. Amid the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020, Biden said there would be more violence if Trump was re-elected.at his inauguration address, Biden used the word “unity” eight times. And he promised to rid America of the scourge of “systemic racism.”
Dozens of campuses are now in chaos, with scenes reminiscent of the 1930s, as Biden often describes Charlottesville.
At some universities, authorities have allowed masked pro-Hamas activists to patrol the boundaries of “encampments,” set up checkpoints, and clearly identified Jews or self-proclaimed “Zionists” (i.e. people who believe that the state of Israel should behave like this. exist). They assaulted journalists, destroyed buildings, and demanded refreshments.
If Biden is re-elected, the violence is sure to continue, largely because he is doing nothing to stop it.
He offered some words of condemnation, interspersed with words of sympathy for the protesters. Despite his Justice Department having previously pursued parents who dared to show up to school board meetings to challenge radical ideologies such as transgenderism and critical race theory. , failed to intervene or investigate the organizers and funders of the protests.
Moreover, university administrators often capitulate to the pro-Palestinian “camp” and call meetings to discuss investment policy. The Israeli “study abroad” program will be discontinued. and agree to dismiss any pending disciplinary charges against the student.
The pro-Palestinian movement also includes Hamas terrorists. I clapped In “Encampment” we learned that breaking the rules is effective and that there is no penalty for anti-Semitism.
Some protests against “Genocide Joe” show that Biden is losing support among younger voters and “progressives.” At the same time, the protests are alienating suburban voters who crave stability and turned to Biden in 2020.
The protests are just another example of issues that Biden cannot or does not want to control, from the chaos at the border to the massive spending that is causing inflation in 2021 and pushing up the national debt.
Democrats are still counting on Trump’s many criminal trials, including state prosecutors in New York and Georgia and federal prosecutors in Washington, D.C. and Florida, to put the former president behind bars or at least tarnish his image. It seems so.
But the New York case appears to be a sham. Georgia prosecutors face serious ethical issues. The Florida case has been postponed indefinitely. And if the Supreme Court dismisses one key charge, the Washington, D.C., case could fall apart.
The Democratic Party is now beginning to face reality. Just like in 2016 when we were caught off guard, we are preparing for battle even though we are panicking. In California, Attorney General Rob Bonta is preparing a lawsuit to block Trump’s policies. In Washington, D.C., bureaucrats are already preparing a number of regulations aimed at curbing Trump 2.0.
This campaign is just getting started and there are no guarantees with mail-in voting. But for some Democrats, it might be better for it to be over already.
