Bob Good loses to Trump-backed rival in tight Virginia race

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R) narrowly lost to Trump-endorsed candidate John McGuire in Virginia’s primary, giving the former president a victory in one of the most eventful nomination races this term, Decision Desk HQ reported. McGuire, a state senator, defeated Good (R), a two-term House representative, in the Republican primary for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District.

Trump surpasses Biden in second quarter fundraising

According to the Trump campaign, former President Trump has raised more money in the second quarter of 2024 than President Biden’s campaign, just four months until Election Day. The campaign said in a statement that it raised $331 million in April, May and June, easily surpassing Biden’s total of $264 million for that period. It also ended June with a cash advantage of $284.9 million.
