Some People Falsely Claim Asylum to Get in, I’m Glad Biden Gave People Claiming Asylum Work Permits

On Friday’s MSNBC show “Morning Joe,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) praised the Biden administration for granting work permits to Venezuelan immigrants. “My grandparents came to pick me up. It’s a chance for a better life.” But some people claim they are “coming here to seek asylum without any real basis.” He also said it would take years to determine whether the claims were valid.

Hochul praised the work permit movement, saying, “These people came here seeking what our immigrant parents, grandparents and great-grandparents wanted: a challenge to a better life. ” he said. But it all depends on being able to do the job. As a result, the city’s custody agreements continue to leave these people in an intolerable situation where they are housed at taxpayer expense and unable to work. ”

She then added:[T]The answer to this is this. As I said earlier, he has two elements to this. One is increased enforcement at the border. Because we’re just saying that people are here illegally and they’re here seeking asylum without any real basis. ”It takes five to seven years to determine whether someone is here legally through asylum. And at that point, if you get rejected, you have to go back. In other words, the system is broken there. But we need support for comprehensive immigration reform in Washington, too. Republicans should stop playing politics with this. ”
