House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said on Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press” that he believes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should lead his country.
Host Kristen Welker said: “Welker said, “On Friday, Sen. Lindsey Graham came to light that President Volodymee Zelensky might need to resign because of a peace agreement. Do you agree with that statement?”
He added, “He needs to come to his senses and return to the table with gratitude, or someone else needs to lead the country to do that.” In other words, it is up to Ukrainians to understand that, but we can convey that we are recreating peace through strength. President Trump has regained strength in the White House. We knew this moment was coming. We worked hard for it to come and now it's here. But we need to go along with these parties and we need to do what President Zelensky needs to do. There are drugs that are too long in this war. He lost hundreds of thousands of people, including women and children. We need to put an end to that. And I think our European allies hope that is true. So is us too. ”
Welker said: Want to see Putin resign? ”
Johnson said, “I want to see Putin be frankly defeated. He is the enemy of the United States. But in this conflict, we have to bring it into this war. That's everyone's interest.”
