Brent Clifford, the son of Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug Clifford, was arrested in Nevada on Thursday on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said Clifford was a suspect after the body of Patricia Portela Wright, 48, was discovered Thursday on Mount Rose Highway in Washoe County, Nevada.
“Clearly foul play was involved,” Placer County Sergeant David Smith said. said Police found Patricia’s body on Thursday, Fox News reported. He added that police have “worked tirelessly over the past week to provide closure for Patricia’s family and to locate her body.”
Portela Wright, of Kings Beach, California, was last seen on August 4th. Her family reported her missing the following Friday, and police began searching for her. Eventually, the sheriff’s office, acting on a tip from an informant, used a drone to find her body, which appears to have rolled down a steep hill near the highway.
“During the investigation, her boyfriend, Brent Clifford, was identified as a suspect in her disappearance. On Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, Clifford was arrested in Portola. [California]”He was booked into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of murder,” police said in a Facebook post Thursday.
Clifford, 55, is being held without bail.
Authorities also report that Clifford is a suspect in another homicide in Reno.
“According to the Reno Police Department, Clifford is a suspect in a Reno homicide, the male victim of which was found on the morning of Sunday, August 11th,” the Placer County Sheriff’s Office added.
When Clifford was arrested in Portola, California, a vehicle registered to the victim was found nearby.
