According to the New York Police Department, the man arrested A man was charged with murder after attempting to drop off his father's body, which suffered two gunshot wounds, at a sheriff's station.
Sheriff Thomas Dougherty said 30-year-old Richard Flugel Jr. dropped off the body of Richard Flugel Sr. at the sheriff's office at the Livingston County Government Center on Monday.
“No one just shows up out of the blue and says they want to turn themselves in because there's a body. That's not common.”
Dougherty said someone called county 911 to report that Fluegel Jr. was holding a body in the parking lot. The caller was later identified as her son's lawyer.
The sheriff said this is highly unusual for this area.
“As you can imagine, this is very unusual,” Doherty added. “I've never heard of anything like that in my career here. I don't think there are people in many law enforcement agencies who would do that. It's hard to imagine someone calling and saying, 'Yes, I'm here, turn around. It’s a very specific situation to say, ‘I want to change something.’” In your body. ”
Police said Dougherty had two shotgun wounds.
Dougherty said the victim's family became worried after he drove away from his home at 2 p.m. and never returned.

Police are trying to determine the son's motive for allegedly shooting his father.
