Indiana Fever Player’s Playoff Encounter with Police
During a recent WNBA playoff game in Atlanta, Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham was seen interacting with police officers after her team clinched a victory over the Atlanta Dream. It was quite a moment, really.
The Dream had a six-point lead early in the fourth quarter when their player, Odyssey Sims, got injured, triggering a timeout. During this pause, Cunningham stepped onto Center Court, followed closely by WNBA standout Kate Rinklerk.
As they approached, an Atlanta police officer gestured for them to step back. Interestingly, Cunningham continued chatting with the officers for a bit before she finally retreated.
Later, Cunningham posted a photo on social media from this encounter, humorously captioning it, “This is some aura.”
Despite the absences of Cunningham and Clark, the Fever secured their playoff position. They are now slated to face the Las Vegas Aces in the next round.
Cunningham and Clark have still been a draw for cameras and media attention, even while sidelined due to injuries. It’s kind of remarkable how they continue to shine from the bench.
Earlier this week, during Game 2 against the Dream, Cunningham and Clark went viral for their animated reactions to what they believed were missed calls on Dream players. At one point, Clark amusingly mimicked an official’s gestures after one of their players finally got called for a trip.
