Sophie Cunningham has kicked off her new podcast with some strong opinions.
In her debut episode of “Show Me Something,” which aired on Wednesday, she openly addressed the criticism aimed at her Indiana Fever teammate, Caitlin Clark. Fans have questioned Clark’s status in the league, and Cunningham made her feelings clear: “When people are similar, it makes me mad,” she expressed, appearing perplexed.
The 28-year-old’s remarks set the tone for her podcast, which she describes as “unfiltered.” She certainly exemplified that by immediately calling out the negativity directed at Clark.
Clark has become a rising star in women’s basketball, making waves over recent years and gaining recognition as a pivotal figure in the WNBA’s growth.
Cunningham acknowledged that while there are plenty of talented players in the league, she firmly believes that Clark deserves recognition as its face. In a previous game in June, Cunningham even found herself involved in a tense moment, taking down Connecticut’s Jaycee Sheldon after she had moments with Clark earlier in the match.
Commenting on the sometimes excessive criticism against Clark, Cunningham stated, “That’s too much, I’m over that.” She questioned why people feel the need to “bully those who play a significant role in advancing the sport.” Her co-host, Bravo Star West Wilson, echoed her thoughts.
With her new podcast debuted through Colin Cowherd’s media company, The Volume, Cunningham is eager to share her perspectives and experiences regarding Clark’s impact in the WNBA.
Teamwork is something Cunningham values deeply, and it’s evident she shares a strong bond with Wilson, who hails from her hometown, Columbia, Missouri.
