A pair of groups associated with the network of left-wing organisations of billionaire George Soros and his son Alex Soros are appealing to prevent President Donald Trump from firing the Civil Rights Office’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) primarily for newly arrived immigrants.
In February, Trump ordered the abolition of DHS’s office for civil rights and civil liberties.
Under former President Joe Biden, officials placed in the Civil Rights Office had deep connections with the Open Borders Lobby and the “Abolition of Ice” movement, a situation that Breitbart news was exposed in 2023.
The democracy of the left-wing legal company, which currently represents several non-governmental organizations, including the Urban Judicial Center, is bring the action The Trump administration is in an attempt to stop the president from shutting down the DHS Civil Rights Office.
“The closure of these offices is part of the Trump administration’s targeting immigrants in the country, and part of the weakening of the protections and resources they have been given,” Sky Perryman, the forward president and CEO of Democracy, said in a statement.
Both the Democratic Forward and the Urban Justice Center have financial links with the Soros Network, particularly the leading organizations of the network known as the Open Society Foundation.
Open Society Foundations funded several Democracy Forward clients and partners, and changed the $3 million grant in 2023 after providing nearly $1.5 million in funding to the group in 2018 and 2019.
Similarly, the Open Society Foundation is one of the largest donors to the Center for Progress in America, a group considered the informal policy arm of the Democratic Party. In 2023, Open Society Foundations provided nearly $4 million in grants to the American Progress Center for American Progress.
Open Society Foundations also throws millions of grants to the National Center for Immigration Law and funding hundreds of thousands of dollars in Unidosus, Common Justice and Catholic Legal Mivirus Network.
The Urban Judicial Center is similarly linked to the Soros Network.
From 2017 to 2021, the Open Society Foundation awarded the Urban Justice Center with a grant of nearly $500,000.
As reported by Breitbart News, Democracy Forward is also involved in lawsuits that prevent the Trump administration from deporting members of illegal alien gangs under the alien enemy laws.
