A sitting Republican lawmaker in South Carolina is under fire after a resurfaced video shows him clearly championing diversity, equity and inclusion in Congress.
Newly resurfaced in 2021, the video features Congressman William Timmons (R.S.C.) touting his support and promotion of DEI during a hearing titled “Recruiting, Empowering, and Retaining a Diverse Congressional Staff.” I can hear it.

Timmons argued that DEI should influence the hiring process for Congressional offices and that “every Congressional office should be representative of Congressmen.”
“I want to start with a goal. So in my mind, our goal should be every congressman’s office. Well, let’s start with Congress,” said the South Carolina state president. said the Republican. “Parliament should represent the nation, and within Congress each member’s office should represent the people.”

In response to the resurfaced video, Timmons wrote in Saturday’s X that the clip had been “selectively edited and taken out of context.” When Fox News Digital reached out to Timmons’ office for comment, a spokesperson directed them to bring the tweet to their attention.

Timmons said he has “always advocated” hiring based on merit.
“I’ve always advocated hiring the best talent, but that’s clearly not the same as implementing quotas,” he said. “I completely believe that DEI is anti-American and have opposed it at every turn. I will continue to push back against the woke policies of the radical left.”

Timmons’ challenger, South Carolina Representative Adam Morgan, told Fox News Digital that his opponent’s apparent support for DEI is “appalling” and “anti-American.”
