Tragic Death of Trey Wright Linked to Alleged Girlfriend Conspiracy
Trey Wright’s mother recalls her son, a lively 16-year-old from South Carolina, seemingly smitten with a cheerleader during summer break. But what was a budding romance quickly escalated into tragedy. After what appeared to be a disagreement, his girlfriend reportedly set him up to be murdered by another teenager, leading to a hospital visit before his family was notified.
This high school sophomore, who described his relationship as a dream come true, faced an unimaginable nightmare. Authorities allege that she conspired with a group to have another teen, Devan Raper, carry out the fatal act.
His mother, Ashley Lindsay, 35, shared that Wright and his girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher, 17, had only been dating for about two months. Despite that brief time, she noticed Wright was serious about Kistenmacher. “Every time she came over, he insisted on spending time with her,” Lindsay noted. “He truly liked her.”
According to reports, after their argument on the night of his death, Kistenmacher and a group of peers took a lengthy drive to Wright’s location in Johnsonville, where Raper allegedly shot him. “It’s chilling—she even showed up at the hospital following the shooting,” Lindsay reflected, revealing that she had comforted Kistenmacher at that moment, unaware of her involvement.
In total, nine individuals were arrested, including seven charged as adults. The local sheriff’s office noted that one teen recorded the incident, a detail that deeply unsettles Lindsay. “Why did they decide to drive over an hour with nine others to commit murder and film it?” she questioned, grappling with the senselessness of it all.
While the incident occurred in June, authorities recently identified two more suspects. Lindsay expressed concern that more arrests might not follow, though detectives are still gathering witness statements to uncover motives.
Notably, Raper faces serious charges, including murder and illegal weapon possession, while another suspect, Hunter Kendall, is also under confinement without bond. The case has stirred up anger and confusion, especially among parents like Lindsay, who feel a lack of supervision contributed to this tragedy.
“These minors were out late, some under parental guidance, yet where were their parents on the night my son was killed?” she lamented. It raises unsettling questions about responsibility that continue to haunt her.
Wright, who was known for his vibrant spirit—balancing sports, work, and friendships—had already made a name for himself in soccer and baseball. He dreamed of bright futures, yet his life was cut short in a horrific event that has left the community in shock.
