SpaceX overtakes Amazon in market value as momentum increases after its IPO

Elon Musk demands $150 billion from OpenAI, stating the organization has forsaken its mission for profit.

Elon Musk’s Inspiring Speech and SpaceX’s Stock Surge

Elon Musk recently delivered an impactful speech during SpaceX’s IPO event. He reflected on his early uncertainties regarding the company while underlining the significance of making life multiplanetary and fostering an exciting future for everyone.

Following last week’s record-breaking IPO, SpaceX’s stock prices continued to climb on Tuesday, pushing the company’s market value above Amazon’s and briefly exceeding Microsoft’s.

SpaceX made its debut on the Nasdaq on Friday, with shares jumping around 35% since the start of trading as investors sought to leverage the momentum. On Tuesday, the stock soared by as much as 15% in the initial trading hours, allowing SpaceX’s market capitalization to surpass $2.66 trillion for Amazon and $2.93 trillion for Microsoft.

This surge briefly positioned SpaceX as the fourth-largest company globally by market cap, although the gains appeared to stabilize later on.

SpaceX’s stock saw an uptick partly due to the announcement of its planned acquisition of AnySphere for $60 billion.

AnySphere is the parent company of Cursor, known for its AI-driven coding agents and a popular tool for “vibe coding.”

The partnership between SpaceX and Cursor, announced back in April, combines Cursor’s software engineering prowess with SpaceX’s supercomputers.

The latest deal gives SpaceX the choice to acquire Cursor this year for $60 billion or opt for a $10 billion collaboration fee. In a post on X, SpaceX confirmed, “We have exercised our option to acquire @cursor_ai in an all-stock transaction with the aim of creating the world’s most useful AI models.”

Additionally, SpaceX mentioned that it has been training AI models alongside Cursor, and these models will soon be available on Cursor and Grok Build. They expressed enthusiasm about collaborating more closely with the Cursor team to enhance AI capabilities.

This is a developing story. Please stay tuned for updates.
