Rep. Victoria Spartz, Republican of Indiana, presented evidence of male athletes injuring girls during sports during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on banning transgender athletes from women’s Olympic sports. .
Spartz was just one of several House Republicans who spoke passionately about protecting young women from men in the locker room, scholarships and sports in general.
“I’d like to actually play the video. …I’d like to see what it can actually cause and how much harm it can do. Could you provide an example? I can. [how] We have much stronger men playing sports against women who are biologically not as strong,” the Republican said.
“Like I said, most of us aren’t that strong biologically, and it’s unfortunate that the other person is actually blocking the conversation in another direction and trying to deflect the conversation.” .Let’s talk about how we protect women and girls.” ”
Spartz then presented a compilation of three separate cases in which female high school athletes were injured by male athletes who were allowed to compete.
The first case was at a Massachusetts high school, where a male student who identified as transgender caused multiple injuries during a girls’ basketball game. At halftime, the school’s coaches decided to call off the game after the remaining players expressed concerns about the possibility of being injured and missing the upcoming playoffs.
Shockingly, the school subsequently defended the right of male students to compete with girls.
The following example shows a male player spiking a ball into a female player’s face during a high school volleyball game in North Carolina. The girl reportedly suffered severe injuries to her head and neck, and she was seen lying on her floor for some time until she had recovered enough to walk off the court on her own.
The third example is that of a high school girl in Massachusetts. lacrosse games. The boy’s shot reportedly hit the girl in the face, knocking out several of her teeth.
After the compilation video was played, Spartz said he wanted to focus on preventing injuries rather than enforcing rules after the fact.
“Girls are actually getting hurt by men playing biological sports. So it’s just incredible to me that this is an intolerable problem for women and girls. ” she continued.
“Let’s be honest, boys, you know, natural biological boys have another advantage over women who play sports. Let’s be honest and recognize that and not deflect. Let’s [the] Conversations,” she added.
Unlike other exchanges between California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell and Wyoming Republican Rep. Harriet Hageman, Mr. Spartz’s testimony faced little backlash. Swalwell repeatedly maintained that it is “impossible” for a man to be in a women’s locker room because there are not enough examples.
Swalwell also called the bill under consideration “creepy” and said it would “result in on-demand gender testing.”[s]. ”
New York Democrat Jerry Nadler also spoke out about legislation that could bar transgender athletes from women’s sports.cynical and dangerous. ”
