Special tribute to NYC highlighted on ornament for America's 250th birthday

A heartfelt tribute to both New York City and the country has been included in the new special edition ornament from the White House Historical Society, marking America’s 250th anniversary.

This unique ornament showcases six significant architectural landmarks across the United States, one of which is the Statue of Liberty.

Featuring a brass base with a 24-karat gold finish, the America 250 Commemorative Ornament pays homage to several iconic sites: the White House, Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge, Gateway Arch, and Mount Rushmore.

“The Statue of Liberty has represented the entryway to this nation for countless individuals who immigrated here,” remarked Lucy Shanahan, chief retail officer at the White House Historical Society. “It’s an incredibly emotional scene,” she added. “We didn’t want to miss the chance to educate or share something so pivotal during this remarkable year.”

Approximately 100,000 limited edition America 250 ornaments are intended for sale.

Since 1981, the White House Historical Society has produced an official Christmas ornament each year, with the profits supporting their mission to promote the rich history of the White House, a concept initiated by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.

The new ornament will join the forthcoming 2026 Official White House Christmas Ornament.

“This year is particularly significant as we celebrate 250 years of America, marking a once-in-a-generation occasion,” Shanahan noted, emphasizing that they aimed to create a beautiful piece that truly captures its importance.

So far, around 30,000 of the America 250 ornaments have been made, with plans to limit production to under 100,000. “This is a very limited run,” Shanahan reiterated.

America 250, a bipartisan group established by Congress, is tasked with organizing national celebrations for the country’s founding, and is working to incorporate some of the nation’s most cherished traditions into the anniversary festivities.

Recently, the organization announced plans for the first-ever second ball drop to take place at the end of July 3, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
