Spectator tumbles into bullpen in alarming incident during White Sox-Royals game

Scary Incident at Chicago’s Leto Field

Wednesday brought a tense moment in the world of MLB, and it wasn’t on the field. During the game between the White Sox and the Royals, a fan unexpectedly fell from the stands into the visiting team’s bullpen.

As the White Sox secured a 6-5 win, play was halted to address the situation involving the fan, who fell from the outfield bleachers with runners on first and second base. Stadium staff rushed to assist, creating a significant delay.

Reports indicated that the fan had to be taken out on a stretcher. The White Sox released a brief statement saying, “Tonight’s game has been postponed to the fourth inning as White Sox personnel treat a fan who has fallen in the visiting team’s bullpen. The fan was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.” Fortunately, the condition of the fan remained unclear following the incident.

Interestingly, none of the Royals’ relief pitchers were close to the area where the fan landed. According to an interview with a spectator, it seems the fan fell while celebrating a scoring double by White Sox outfielder Tristan Peters in the bottom of the second inning. Zack Kreigler, a White Sox supporter, recounted the moment: “He jumped up to celebrate the double and fell down. He got so excited he flipped over. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. I just hope he’s okay.”

This incident echoes a concerning event from more than a year ago, when a Pirates fan fell over six feet from the stands at PNC Park. That fan, Kavan Markwood, suffered severe injuries, including a broken neck and collarbone.

Markwood shared his thoughts with Inside Edition, stating, “I don’t know how I’m still alive.” Despite the ongoing pain and difficulties he faces, he noted that things are getting somewhat better.

In another unsettling occurrence, just last week during a Brewers-Cardinals game in St. Louis, another fan had to be pulled back from the edge by fellow attendees in one of the upper stadium sections.
