Spencer Pratt’s Animated Campaign Video Gains Traction
An animated campaign video featuring salsa music has gained popularity this week, created by a group known as Latinos Por Pratt. The video highlights Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt as he criticizes the current mayor, Karen Bass.
The catchy song, “Spencer, Saka La Basula,” referred to as “Spencer, Take Out the Trash,” provides an entertaining commentary on the city’s troubles, from the increasing number of homeless encampments to potholes that cause tire blowouts.
In the animation, Bass is depicted as taking selfies in exotic locations like Ghana, while the hills of Los Angeles burn in the background. The lyrics, while not particularly harsh, suggest a disconnect: “While the hills were on fire, Mayor Karen traveled far off the map… She’s probably saying that even though it’s raining from the sky.”
For Pratt, the imagery of fire is deeply personal. After losing his home in the Palisades fire last year, he became a vocal critic of city management. He launched his campaign in February, focusing on accountability for wildfire response and promising to evaluate homeless spending and reform the city’s police and fire departments.
Meanwhile, Pratt is portrayed as actively cleaning the streets, using a broom to address the litter and tents associated with areas like Hollywood, Venice Beach, and the Griffith Observatory.
The refrain of the song cleverly plays on the mayor’s name, “Bass,” while also criticizing the city’s failing infrastructure, poking fun at issues like the “LAX plane train” and delays related to the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
As the singer notes, “Just a line, a delay, we’re working on it, but still every pothole punctures my tire.”
The most eye-catching imagery in the video shows Pratt literally pushing trash cans through Hollywood streets, with the mayor portrayed sitting in a literal trash bag. Spectators cheer him on as he performs this symbolic act.
A group supporting Pratt dances alongside him, proclaiming that “all this chaos… feels like trash moving in.” The scene resembles a festive block party rather than a conventional political rally, featuring Pratt and his wife, Heidi, dancing salsa on stage with “Latinos por Pratt” branding, while supporters wave American and Mexican flags.
As the animated video unfolds, enthusiastic supporters respond positively as Pratt gestures towards a podium decorated with the Los Angeles city seal and a prominent blue sign that reads “SPENCER FOR MAYOR 2026.”
Recent polling from the Berkeley Institute of Government and Los Angeles Times shows Mayor Bass leading with only 25% of the voter support, followed by City Councilor Nitya Raman with 17% and Pratt at 14%.
Pratt has since shared the video on his social media platforms.
