Spencer Pratt Criticizes Nithya Raman for Suggesting a Ban on Backyard BBQs

Pratt Critiques Raman’s Grilling Ban Proposal

Spencer Pratt, a Republican candidate for mayor in Los Angeles, has taken aim at Democratic City Council member Nitya Raman over her recently introduced plan that would grant the government authority to restrict backyard grilling on specific days.

The proposal suggests that officials should consider limiting backyard barbecues, fire pits, and other open flames during high-risk weather conditions. This has drawn mixed reactions, to say the least.

Can you imagine it? Giving bureaucrats in California the power to declare backyard grilling illegal? It feels a bit absurd, especially considering some people believe that outdoor cooking contributes to global warming. It’s likely to spiral into extended restrictions if implemented.

Fortunately, another council member stepped up against Raman’s proposal. Councilmember Monica Rodriguez pointed out, “What Angelenos really need is a ban on holding carne asada in their backyards. We don’t typically check the weather for red flags before planning a barbecue.”

There’s a valid concern that the same city which has decriminalized various offenses would somehow prioritize enforcing a backyard grilling ban. The motivation behind this could be twofold: enhancing governmental control and generating revenue through fines levied on residents.

Pratt’s response was a mix of humor and defiance, aptly driving home his point about the absurdity of the situation.

He noted that, fundamentally, grilling isn’t what starts fires. It’s a broader issue, much like how the Democratic Party often operates.

Currently, Mayor Karen Bass has presented a plan to offer free dental care to stimulant addicts, while Raman seems intent on establishing a “No Grilling Day.”

Pratt is advocating for addressing crime, ensuring public safety, and providing essential resources to fire services. But, according to recent polls, Los Angeles faces serious challenges, and Pratt himself admits he doesn’t have a stake in the city’s future.

In Pratt’s view, he embodies a candidate focusing on crucial issues, contrasting sharply with the perceived failures of both Bass and Raman. He warns that if Los Angeles continues down its current path, it could find itself in dire straits, much like other major cities that have faced severe decline.
