The left-leaning Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has placed the gay-run organization on its “hate map” for its opposition to child sex reassignment.
The SPLC has positioned itself as the arbiter of what constitutes a “hate group,” and in its latest “Year of Hate and Extremism” report and updated “Hate Map. “
The left-wing organization has gone all out this year to denounce various medical, Christian and family advocacy groups as “hate groups” for their opposition to radical LGBTQ policies, particularly transgenderism.
the reportIn a report released on June 4, the SPLC claimed that it “recorded 86 active anti-LGBTQ+ hate groups in 2023, an increase of approximately 33% from 2022 and the highest number ever recorded by the SPLC.”
“This increase is primarily the result of anti-transgender activism motivated by the far-right’s renewed focus on false conspiracy theories that paint LGBTQ+ people, particularly transgender people and drag artists, and their allies, as sexual predators,” the far-left group added.
The SPLC added a number of new groups to its so-called “hate map,” including Advocates for Children of Virginia, California Policy Council, Center for Christian Virtue of Ohio, Campaign for Child and Parent Rights of Georgia, Family Action Council of Tennessee, Family Policy Council of Florida, Frontline Policy Council of Georgia, Family Forum of Louisiana, Family Institute of Massachusetts, Family Foundation of Montana, Family Institute of Pennsylvania and Family Foundation of Virginia.
But the SPLC has also added groups that are actually run by gay Americans: This year, the SPLC added a group called Gays Against Groomers to its “Hate Map.”
The group was founded in 2022 as The X Account by its leader Jamie Michel, who was alarmed by increasing attempts by the left to sexualize increasingly young children to spread a radical LGBTQ agenda. Michel began speaking out online about drag queen story hours in schools and libraries, speaking out against sexually explicit books in school libraries, and denounced permanent medical sex changing of young children.
Last year, Michelle talked Speaking before the political activist group Moms For Liberty, she told the audience that many gay people secretly oppose radical LGBTQ policies.
“Gay people are not a monolith, and the point I’m trying to make is that we don’t all agree with this new modern rainbow movement that we see now. In fact, it’s the majority of us that don’t,” Michelle says. Said In her speech, she said, “That’s why I started this organization. I could no longer stand by and watch this harmful ideology being forced upon our children in our name, in my name. … I knew I was not alone.”
“The truth is, we have never consented to our children being fed pornographic filth in our schools. We have never consented to woke doctors sterilizing and mutilating our children in our name. We have never consented to radical trans activists taking over and speaking on our behalf,” she added.
“This policy is not only hurting our children, it’s hurting us. The extremists who have hijacked our communities are setting us back decades with their attacks on our children,” Michelle said. “The acceptance we fought to win as gays and lesbians in this country is now disappearing overnight, and it’s devastating for us to watch.”
The SPLC said the individual is a leading representative of a “hate group.”
Unfortunately, the SPLC is often held up by the media as the sole authority on the definition of a hate group, which violates one of journalism’s core practices: getting multiple sources to identify whether something is a “fact.” The SPLC is the only group, and no other organization tracks “hate groups.” Even the FBI does not provide a list of hate groups that the public can track. As a result, the media often repeats the SPLC’s biased, left-wing claims and presents their identification of “hate groups” as fact, when in fact they are partisan activities.
