Spokesperson Kira Yarmis made this claim on Saturday through a post on social media platform X.
“Alexei Navalny was killed. According to the official message to Alexei’s mother, his death occurred at 2:17 pm local time on February 16,” Yarmysh said. “Colonial officials said Mr. Navalny’s body is currently in Salekhard.”

Navalny’s mother and lawyer went to the morgue on Saturday where they were told the body was being kept, but reported there was no body there.

Navalny was being held in the IK-3 penal colony, also known as “Polar Wolf,” in Russia’s Harb. It is one of the toughest prisons in the country.
