San Antonio Spurs coach Greg Popovich is playing for the season after struggling with strokes in November, the report says.
Coach released a statement On Thursday, manager Mitch Johnson praised the “great work” he did during the season.
“I have decided not to go back to the bystander this season,” he said in a statement. According to TMZ, Popovich said, “I will continue to focus on my health in the hopes of being able to return to coaching in the future,” Popovich added.
The final game Popovich was the October Halloween game against the Minnesota Timber Wolves.
At 76, the opinionated coach is currently the oldest coach in the NBA.
The Spurs have a 24-33 record this season and are 13th in the Western Conference. They will then face the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
Popovich won five NBA championships and was named Coach of the Year three times. He has also won over 1,000 regular season games and over 90 playoff games.
