That must be a joke.
In San Antonio, squatters with aggressive billy goats refused to leave their homes for months after the animals attacked homeowners and police, sources said.
The four-legged Baa’ad boy attacked and shoved house flipper Daniel Cabrera, who bought a five-bedroom home for $175,000 in June from a woman who refused to leave. he told realtor.com.
When Mr. Cabrera knocked on the door to confront her, a grumpy creature tied to the front door lunged at him.
“When I saw the goat, I thought, ‘Oh, yeah.’ Remember, this is not an oil town. It’s not the backcountry. We’re in San Antonio!” Cabrera said. Told.
“It kept coming at me…I was like, ‘I better not get any closer to this.’ This is crazy,” he said.
Cabrera said the woman, whose name is not listed in the report, had already paid for the home and given her a week to move out. He also placed an eviction sign on her door.
Although his name was on the deed and she no longer had the right to live in the house, Cabrera refused to leave the house until November 29, when Cabrera finally went to police. I was able to convince him to kick her out.
He and police knocked on her door, but she refused to unlock it, prompting Cabrera to use a locksmith. The angry goat then allegedly attacked one of the officers.
“The goat ran into one of the officers,” Cabrera said. “He said, “The goat made me feel better.” The cops were like, “There’s something wrong here.”
Once inside, the woman, who was on the verge of foreclosure, turned out to be a hoarder with trash strewn everywhere and dogs and cats running rampant inside.
She eventually left the house, but only made it to the driveway, where she sat on a mattress with several cats, according to the report. She stayed there for at least another day.
It was not immediately known what happened to the goat.
Cabrera called her a “squatter with a goat” because her name was on the deed to the house.
Keaton Freeberg, a Texas real estate attorney who works with Cabrera, agreed with the use of the term.
“We think of squatters as random individuals who simply move in and take over other people’s property,” Freeberg said.
“However, it is possible to verify the previous owner.” [with] The example of goats as squatters.
“The Texas court opinion stated that the “defendant” owned the home but did not rent it, but was simply a “squatter.” In Texas, this term is used loosely,” he added.
Under Texas law, squatters can continue living in a home as long as they live there for five years and pay taxes.
Ultimately, Kabara said, “I feel sorry for her,” adding that she likely had mental health issues.
“Some of you may be thinking, ‘I’ve lived in this house for 20 years and raised my children in this house.’ This is the first property my husband and I purchased,” Cabrera said. Told.
“There’s an emotional connection. Unfortunately, some people can’t accept being foreclosed on until literally the sheriff comes to their door and kicks them out of their home.”
He advised homebuyers to withhold payments to former owners until they move out, to discourage them from staying illegally.
In New York, lawmakers passed a flurry of anti-squatter bills this week after a series of disturbing home invasions in the Big Apple and elsewhere.
