Syracuse, New York — St. Joseph Health and Aetna have reached a multiyear agreement that ends one of several insurance disputes in central New York.
It has been about a month since St. Joseph's Health and Excellus agreed to extend insurance negotiations. The new deadline for the dispute is now the end of February.
A joint statement from both St. Joseph's Health and Aetna was provided to CNY Central.
We are pleased to share Aetna, a CVS Health company, with Trinity Health/St. Joseph's Health has reached a multi-year agreement that will allow our valued patients and members to maintain in-network access to Trinity Health/St. Joseph's Health hospitals, facilities and healthcare providers they trust. We appreciate your patience and support as we worked together to reach a fair agreement.
St. Joseph's Health is also negotiating a new insurance contract with Humana.
Dr. Lisa Harris, the nonprofit's chief medical officer, sent a written response in November to our questions about multiple disputes.
“Our goal is to get the best deal for our members while balancing the financial needs of the hospital with the need to keep premiums as affordable as possible. “It's about coming to an agreement that keeps Joseph in our network and at a price that we can afford,” Dr. Harris said.
