The family of the St. Louis girl who was assaulted in a viral video shared an update on her condition and said the road ahead remains long and uncertain.

Video shows Kaylee Gein, 16, being hit repeatedly in the head on the pavement during the March 8 assault near Hazelwood East High School in Spanish Lake, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis. It was reflected.

Family lawyer Brian Kemmerer said Gein suffered a fractured skull, causing life-threatening brain swelling and bleeding.

The next day, police arrested a 15-year-old girl in connection with the fight. She is currently being held in St. Louis County Family Court on assault charges.

After the attack went viral, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that the suspect who severely beat Gein in the violent scuffle would be tried as an adult and would be charged with murder if the crime escalated to murder. said it should be done.

“We need to reform the juvenile system to ensure that these types of issues are addressed,” Bailey previously said. “I’m going to be watching this case closely. I think there needs to be some accountability in our juvenile system. People are starting to realize that, and it’s causing problems across the state of Missouri.”

Gain’s friends and family have set up two GoFundMe accounts to raise money for medical expenses and to share updates about Kaylee’s condition.
