Kaylee Gein, a 15-year-old student who was assaulted after school in a St. Louis suburb, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and swelling, and has not regained consciousness, her family said.
On March 8, after an after-school brawl near Hazelwood East High School in Spanish Lake, Missouri, Cayley was seen convulsing after being hit repeatedly in the head on the sidewalk.
Family attorney Brian M. Kemmerer said doctors still don’t know the full extent of her injuries because she still hasn’t regained consciousness 10 days later. According to KMOX in St. Louis.
“Kaylee’s parents would like to express their gratitude to the medical staff for their caring and treatment, the St. Louis County Police Department, the victim advocacy groups assigned to this case, and the friends and family who reached out to them. We ask that you please express your love and support during this extremely difficult time,” the lawyer said in a statement.
The family said they will focus on getting justice for Caylee once she recovers. The teenager who smashed Caylee’s head into concrete has been arrested.
The Missouri Attorney General’s Office asked that she be prosecuted as an adult.
