St. Patrick’s Day 2025 celebrations in NYC: Parade, bar crawls, more

New Yorkers are ready to roll with Shamrock as another round of St. Patrick's Day celebration begins this weekend.

Over 150,000 marchers are set to surprise millions of cheering along Fifth Avenue and show off their pipes.

Midtown will be making its way into green seas until Monday evening, as festivals flow to bars (Irish and not Irish), restaurants and other places.

What time does the parade start?

The queue begins at Monday's dot at 11am and ends at about 4:30pm.

Why is there a parade on Monday?

The parade will be held on Monday, March 17th, 2025, on St. Patrick's Day. The only exception to the rule is when the 17th fell on Sunday in 2024. In that case, to observe the Sabbath, the parade was held on Saturday, March 16th, according to the parade organizers.

Are there any transportation confusion?

Fifth Avenue will be closed between 44th and 79th Avenue during the parade, with backups occurring in surrounding streets until after the event. Driving in Midtown on Monday is not recommended. Regular bus services along the route will be suspended and subway entrances above or near the route may be closed.

Woodlawn Heights in the Bronx was one of the most Irish locations in New York in 2025, and you can get there via the subway (2/5 from Nereid Avenue) or Metro North (Woodlawn) just a short walk away to your final destination for bars and pubs along Katna Avenue.

Or technically walk past the Yonkers line to McLean Avenue and continue packing more fantastic venues like Heritage Bar and Loridoran.

In Queens, both Woodside and Sunnyside are blessed with many great drinking nests and restaurants, as well as the most famous Donovan pub (57-24 Roosevelt Avenue).

Is there a calm St. Patrick's Day celebration in New York?
