A man has been arrested in connection with an attack on three people at a London market on Sunday that left two injured and one killed.
A man has died and another man and woman have been hospitalized after a stabbing at East Street Market in Walworth, south London, on Sunday morning.
According to reports, a man believed to be in his 60s was arrested at the scene. According to Go to Sky News.
So far, police have not released information about the suspect or his motive.
However, police do not consider the attack to be terrorism-related and are investigating the incident on the assumption that mental health played a role.
An unnamed fabric seller at the market who witnessed the incident said, said telegraph paper: “I just saw a guy running through the market stabbing people mercilessly. It seemed completely random. He went and grabbed a few people near me.
“His knife was big. I saw him stab two men. He and they seemed like complete strangers.
“Everyone was screaming and screaming and running. The guy was running towards the end of the road. It was about 10:30 a.m., so the market was just picking up.
“I went to the two guys who had been stabbed. One of them didn't seem to be in too much danger, but the other one was in immediate danger as soon as I saw him. I found out something happened and immediately called the police.”
Commander Peter Stevens, of the Metropolitan Police, said: “Sadly this morning a man lost his life. Officers are working hard to establish exactly what happened and provide support to his family. We are working on this.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and the others who were injured.”
