The stalker appeared at the woman's workplace in Pensacola, Florida on Monday morning and began punching her, police said.
However, the victim had a gun on her and shot the man once with his foot in self-defense, police added.
“She didn't do anything wrong. She was protecting herself the way she should have done.”

Records show James was in the Escambia County Jail Friday morning on charges of stalking, battery, smuggling, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, resistance to an officer and simple assault. His bonds are set at $26,500.
Pensacola police officer Mike Wood told Wear that the stalker has been “still for quite some time” and that “this man's individual… uses social media and uses phones.”
Wood said, “He came to her employment place earlier, and she told him to leave, and he did. But when he came, he saw her in the laundry room, He approached her and began punching her. “
So Wood tells Wear that the victim “drawn a handgun she legally held and shot her in the leg once.”
“He was much bigger than her and she did what she had to do,” Wood told the station, “She had nothing wrong. She should have done I was protecting myself like that.”
Police told Ware that they had not been charged with the woman.
In addition to the station, Wood added James “when he was in the hospital, he kicked one of our officers.” Wood also told Ware that James “had him cocaine and marijuana.”
