Retired General Stanley McChrystal on Sunday sidestepped questions about former President Trump's suitability for the top job, saying he would vote for Vice President Harris because of her “personality.”
“I think character is how a person acts when under pressure. It's about their deep-rooted beliefs, things, core values, and how they live and respond to them It's the combination of discipline that it takes to do that,” McChrystal said in an interview with Robert Costa on CBS News' “Face the Nation.” .
“So I think when we look at Kamala Harris, when we look at her history, she came to the Senate as a prosecutor, attorney general. She's had a lot of experience and that “I think that creates the kind of person you need for the presidency,” he continued.
McChrystal endorsed Harris in a New York Times op-ed on Thursday, touting the vice president's character while avoiding naming her political opponents.
In an interview Sunday, Mr. Costa pressed Mr. McChrystal about the large number of national security and military officials who support the vice president over the former president.

Costa again asked, “Is he fit to be president?''
“Okay, Bob, let's be honest: Why would a veteran support an opponent?” McChrystal said.
“Tell me,” Costa countered.
“I vote for character because I think character is so important. I vote for Kamala Harris,” McChrystal said.
McChrystal has previously criticized the former president. meanwhile 2018 interview“I don't believe he's telling the truth,” he said, adding that he plans to decline the offer to join the Trump administration. He also said he believes President Trump is immoral.
