Planning a Winter Trip to Disneyland? Read This First

If you’re thinking about a winter visit to Disneyland, I’d recommend double-checking a few details before locking in your plans.

As we look ahead to early 2026, Disneyland is set for its usual renovation period, and it may surprise families eager to enjoy the park’s biggest attractions.

With attendance anticipated to rise due to a new ticket offer, the park will temporarily shut down several major rides, including the popular Galaxy’s Edge.

Beginning January 20, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be offline for scheduled maintenance. This ride is often considered the highlight of the park, making its closure a significant letdown for many visitors. Although Disney hasn’t provided specifics on when it will reopen, some insiders think it might stay closed until just before the influx of guests around President’s Day in mid-February.

This maintenance comes right after Disney launched a ticket promotion, making entry prices as low as $68 daily to boost attendance during the slower season.

It’s not just a distant galaxy that’s feeling the impact. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park are both affected.

The Haunted Mansion will close on January 12 as the seasonal “Nightmare Before Christmas” theme is removed, and it will remain down for roughly two weeks.

At Disney California Adventure, Pixar Pier will be undergoing renovations, with major attractions like the Incredicoaster and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind closing on January 5.

Even dining options are feeling the pinch. The popular Lamplight Lounge will shut its doors on January 12 for updates, which is a bit disappointing for fans of the restaurant.

Additionally, the Grizzly River Run will also enter its seasonal downtime on January 5.

Disney has yet to respond to inquiries regarding these closures.
