‘Star Wars’ Reveals Its First Transgender Stormtrooper In New Book

The introduction of the first transgender Stormtrooper in the popular Star Wars sci-fi series has divided fans.
The book featured images of characters in armor painted in the pink and blue hues of the transgender flag.

Transgender Stormtroopers are currently depicted in Star Wars lore. After first being conceptualized in 2022, the hilariously named “Sister” character was written into an illustrated encyclopedia for children.

However, this new transgender character has yet to appear in any Star Wars show or movie, and fans of the series are hoping to see one in the future.
Nevertheless, significant backlash from fans was also evident after Disney's decision to design a transgender Stormtrooper. Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars from director George Lucas in 2012.
“This can't be real. It has to be a parody…there's no way it's outrageous!” one X user posted.
“What happened to my favorite series,” said another.
A third online user wrote: “These people just love escapism and killing fantasy.”
Meanwhile, the series' progressive, LGBTQ-leaning fans praised the sci-fi series for using transgender characters to promote “tolerance and inclusivity” among a growing demographic.
A 2022 study by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law found that “the population of transgender youth has doubled in five years.” The number of teenagers and young adults in the United States who identify as transgender has doubled in the past five years. ”
