Starbucks rolling out Red Cup Day: Here are the details

Starbucks has revealed the dates for this year's Red Cup Day.

The 2024 edition of Red Cup Day will take place on Thursday at participating locations nationwide, according to the coffee house chain.

During the annual all-day event, Starbucks announced that it will give away free reusable red cups to customers with purchases “while supplies last.” One of the chain store's holiday drinks.

The “limited edition” red cup comes in 16 oz.

Drinks from Starbucks' recently launched holiday and fall menus will be available in all sizes and temperatures, and customers will receive a free reusable red cup on Thursday, the company said. The same goes for hot chocolate.

The latter of the two seasonal menus is available from August 22nd.

“The reusable red cup benefit is available for Starbucks delivery (Uber Eats , DoorDash, and the GrubHub app),” Starbucks said.

The company on Tuesday introduced the ability for customers to order food and drinks for delivery by DoorDash within the Starbucks app.

Holiday drink orders placed in this manner will also be eligible for the Thursday giveaway.

Red Cup Day has helped increase traffic for Starbucks in the past.

Last year on Red Cup Day, Starbucks saw a 31.7% increase in visitors “compared to the daily average over the past five weeks,” according to Placer.ai.

The analytics firm also reported that years like 2022 and 2021 saw higher increases of 81% and 65% on Red Cup Day.

Starbucks announced in late October that its global comparable sales for fiscal 2024 were down 2%.

He said the company, under new leadership from CEO Brian Nicol, is making a series of changes aimed at “winning back customers and getting back to growth.”

According to the company, as of the end of September, there were approximately 40,200 Starbucks stores worldwide, including approximately 18,400 in North America.
