Brian Wilson, Beach Boys Co-Founder, Passes Away
Musicians and celebrities have come forward to pay their respects to Brian Wilson following the announcement of his death on Wednesday. His family shared the news via a post on his Instagram account.
In a heartfelt tribute, his daughter, Carnie Wilson of Wilson Phillips, shared a touching photo of herself and her sister with their father, saying, “I have no words to express the sadness I feel right now.” She further declared, “My father was all the fibers in my body. He will be remembered by millions until the end of time.”
She described their connection as a “soul connection that lives on,” expressing disbelief at the depth of her grief, but also comfort in knowing he is at peace, perhaps playing piano for his grandmother.
In another tribute, one of Wilson’s bandmates posted a nostalgic photo of him looking out over the water while riding a yacht. The caption reflected, “Today, the world mourns the loss of a genius. Brian Wilson was not just part of the Beach Boys; he was the essence of our musical journey.”
It continued, highlighting how his talent created a soundtrack for countless lives, spreading joy and optimism through music that echoed feelings of summer and endless possibilities. “Though we are heartbroken, his legacy will remain alive in his songs and in our hearts.”
Actor John Stamos also took to Instagram to honor Wilson, recalling their connection during his appearances on “Full House” where Wilson played himself. Stamos reminisced about how Wilson “soundtracked my life” and how they shared memorable and emotional moments together. He added, “He heard what others could not and put it into music, touching our souls.” Stamos expressed his love, saying, “My heart is with you, Kearney, Wendy, and everyone who loved him.” He concluded, “Brian once said, ‘Music is the voice of God.’ He is now part of that eternal chorus.”
Beach Boys co-founder Al Jardine also shared a tribute, expressing gratitude for Wilson’s presence in his life and noting that he was now reunited with his fellow bandmates Carl and Dennis. “You were the humble giant who always made me laugh,” Jardine wrote.
Nancy Sinatra shared photos of them together, reminiscing about the joy of performing “California Girls” with him, emphasizing that his music would live on forever. Elton John also expressed his admiration, reflecting on their shared musical journey and how Wilson had a lasting influence on his own songwriting.
Kate Hudson paid tribute by sharing an old post from Wilson’s Instagram, accompanied by the Beach Boys’ song “God Only Knows.” She expressed gratitude for the impact he made on their lives.
Sean Ono Lennon and John Cusack also shared their own tributes, with Cusack recalling Wilson’s profound connection to music. “I would like to express my deepest sadness to Wilson and his family,” he wrote, encapsulating the shared sense of loss felt by many. Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood added to the somber reaction, reflecting on the nostalgia and sadness of losing such a legendary figure.
