It’s a Turkey Chase on Staten Island
A man from Staten Island found himself in a rather unusual predicament recently. As he stepped out of his house, a feisty turkey appeared out of nowhere, causing quite a scene in his driveway, which was all captured on camera.
Noel Colon was heading to work when the aggressive bird flapped its wings and charged toward him. It’s been reported that this unexpected encounter caught many locals’ attention.
“Ahh, s-t,” Colon exclaimed, captured on the home’s surveillance footage as he reacted to the outlandish situation.
After momentarily losing sight of the determined turkey, he thought he could safely open the side door of his white Ford SUV. But, of course, moments later, the bird was right on his tail, and he found himself sprinting around his driveway with a shopping bag in hand.
Colon, who works for the National Grid, later described this comical yet alarming chase as nearly giving him a “heart attack.” He mentioned that while he generally isn’t one to panic easily, this particular encounter was completely unexpected. “I mean, I just wanted to get to work on time,” he added.
After it all settled down, he discovered eleven eggs nearby, realizing that the turkey was likely protecting her nest. “They’re turkeys, and she comes back every morning between 6:30 and 7:30 AM to hang out,” he explained. Now, when he spots a turkey in the area, he’s taken to walking on the opposite side of the street, just in case.
