Staud Joins Forces with Amex to Celebrate 60 Years of the Gold Card Resort Collection

American Express Partners with Staud for Gold Card’s 60th Anniversary

On Wednesday, American Express revealed a new partnership with Staud, celebrating the 60th anniversary of its Gold Card.

The limited edition Resort collection draws inspiration from contemporary travel experiences, aligning with the essence of the Gold Card. Staud designed an eight-piece collection, incorporating unique patchwork and motifs that reflect travel memorabilia.

According to Sarah Staudinger, co-founder and creative director of Staud, travel has always fueled her creativity. She shared in an interview that she often gathers inspiration from the “colors, textures, and fleeting moments” that stay with her long after her trips.

Staudinger also mentioned that the collaboration aims to evoke the feeling of an “endless vacation,” creating items that are not only stylish but also practical for storage and wear anywhere around the globe. The interplay of fashion and functionality, highlighted by quotes from various travel destinations, played a significant role in shaping the collection.

She commented that the Gold Card is closely associated with various experiences—travel, dining, discovery, and the memories attached to them. Thus, partnering with American Express felt like a seamless fit. “We wanted our collection to capture that spirit, making it both stylish and fun, with a hint of the unexpected,” she noted. The Travel Patches, in particular, were intended to act like little souvenirs from a journey.

The campaign includes actress and model Laura Harrier, who showcases pieces from the collection.

Harrier expressed her affinity for the Gold Card, stating, “I never leave home without my AmEx Gold Card, and working with Staud feels like a natural extension of my daily life.” She added that resort wear is versatile and chic, perfect for travel, and mentioned that the Timmy bag is her favorite piece from the collection.

Lisa Calhans, executive vice president of U.S. consumer products at American Express, described the Gold Card’s 60th anniversary as a chance to celebrate cardmembers and their ways of creating memorable experiences. She emphasized that Staud’s playful take on fashion mirrors how cardmembers experience the world, making them a fitting partner for this initiative.

Calhans elaborated on the collaboration, stating it reflects the everyday journeys of individuals, much like how the Gold Card fits into significant moments, whether they’re related to travel or dining.

She highlighted how AmEx and the Gold Card have tapped into cultural trends, referencing past noteworthy moments and partnerships that have aligned with the brand’s journey.

In celebration of the collection’s launch, Gold Cardmembers can earn a $90 statement credit from Thursday through June 30 when they make purchases of $350 or more at Staud’s online or physical stores.

The American Express x Staud collection will be available starting Thursday at midnight, with prices ranging from $145 to $595.
