Steelers and Dolphins are said to have reached a significant trade agreement.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins reportedly reached a trade agreement on Monday, as training camp approaches in just a few weeks.

In this move, the Dolphins will send cornerback Jalen Ramsey, tight end Johnne Smith, and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who is a three-time All-Pro, in exchange for the Steelers’ fifth pick in the 2027 draft along with a seventh-round pick.

It’s no surprise that Ramsey was on the trading block. Back in April, he and the team had discussed potential trade scenarios ahead of the 2025 season. There were even rumors about him potentially reuniting with the Los Angeles Rams.

Ramsey indeed contributed on the field with 60 tackles and two interceptions over the last season. Meanwhile, Smith made a notable impact with a career-high of 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns.

Interestingly, this trade means that the Steelers not only bolster their defensive lineup but also enhance their offensive options with Smith joining their ranks. So, you could say it’s a strategic move. Smith could give quarterback Aaron Rodgers another reliable target to work with.

Fitzpatrick, who was initially drafted by the Dolphins, finds himself heading back to Miami after a stint with the Steelers that started mid-season in 2019. It’s a bit of a homecoming, I suppose.

As the Dolphins embrace the upcoming changes, they are also getting a player back who knows their system well, making this an intriguing swap. This kind of trade, with so many notable players involved, adds a layer of excitement to the upcoming season.
