George Pickens might be in a bit of trouble.
The NFL is reportedly investigating an explicit message that read “Open Fucking Always” written on a Steelers wide receiver's face during Sunday night's game against the Cowboys.
League rules prohibit players from “wearing, displaying, or otherwise communicating any personal message, written or illustrated, unless approved in advance by league officials.”
The NFL could fine Pickens for the message, but a suspension is unlikely.
Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday he had no knowledge of what was written on Pickens' face.
“I don't know what message you're trying to get across regarding his black eye,” Tomlin said. “There was nothing special about his effort.”
Pickens may have taken his frustration out on his opponents by finishing Sunday's 20-17 loss with just three catches for 26 yards on seven targets.
As time expired, Pickens was flagged for grabbing Dallas cornerback Jordan Lewis by the facemask and swinging him to the ground.
Lewis was tearing Pickens down through the tunnel to the locker room immediately after the incident.
“Pittsburgh needs receivers,” Lewis said in a video posted to social media. “George Pickens is weak.”
Pickens, 23, is no stranger to hefty fines from the league and the Steelers.
Last season, Pickens was fined more than $200,000. According to a January report from CBS Sports, depending on the NFL and team combination.
Pickens is on a four-year rookie contract worth up to $6.75 million, with about $3.9 million guaranteed.
He can become a free agent after the 2025 season.
