Ravens Season Ends in Dramatic Loss to Steelers
The final game of the 2025 NFL regular season was quite a spectacle, getting thrilling right up to the last seconds. In a nail-biting fourth quarter, Baltimore Ravens kicker Tyler Loup narrowly missed a walk-off field goal, which meant the team finished with 27 points instead of 30, ultimately making their way to the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the AFC North title slipped away to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who rallied dramatically in that critical fourth quarter, leaving the Ravens’ season in despair.
Throughout the game, it was evident that Lamar Jackson, the Ravens’ star quarterback, had struggled this season. However, late in the fourth quarter, he showcased a remarkable play—perhaps one of the best of his career. On a crucial third-and-four from midfield, he evaded a sack and threw a beautiful pass to Zai Flowers, who caught it in stride and raced for a long touchdown, putting the Ravens ahead 17-13. Yet, the Steelers were undeterred, responding with an efficient eight-play drive that culminated in a touchdown from Kenneth Gainwell, flipping the score to 20-17 with just under four minutes left.
But Jackson, it seemed, wasn’t done yet. He connected with Flowers again, this time for a stunning 64-yard touchdown, reclaiming the lead for the Ravens at 24-20 with only 2:20 remaining.
In a rapid response, the Steelers moved swiftly into Ravens territory. On a pivotal third-and-10 with just 55 seconds seconds left, Aaron Rodgers found Calvin Austin wide open for a touchdown. However, Chris Boswell’s missed extra point meant the Steelers only led by a narrow two points. The Ravens got the kickoff, starting from their own 47-yard line, called three timeouts, and found themselves with a golden chance.
Jackson completed his first pass but encountered a fourth-and-seven due to an illegal formation and two incomplete throws. In a moment of desperation, he took a knee with just two seconds left, setting up a potential game-winning field goal. Unfortunately, it sailed wide right, sending the Steelers into celebration.
The game kicked off dramatically, with Lamar Jackson initially taking charge by leading a 38-yard touchdown run from Devontez Walker. After trading punts, the Ravens seized a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter with a field goal when the Steelers faltered on downs. Pittsburgh bounced back with a field goal of their own, slowly gaining momentum.
Just before halftime, the Steelers caught a break with a defensive penalty that brought them to the 2-yard line with only two seconds to go. They opted for a touchdown attempt instead of a field goal, but were stonewalled by the Ravens as the clock expired.
Coming out strong in the second half, the Steelers didn’t waste time, scoring to tie the game at 10. In a pivotal moment upon his return from injury, TJ Watt seized a deflected ball for an interception, helping Pittsburgh to take their first lead with another field goal.
Ultimately, the Steelers, led by 42-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers and head coach Mike Tomlin, ended the season at 10-7 and are set to host the Houston Texans in the wild-card round on Monday night.
