Exclusive: House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik of New York is calling for her elected officials to resign after she reportedly compared former President Trump to a “rabid dog” after he was shot.
Potsdam City Councilwoman Christine Page is facing bipartisan backlash over comments she made that were first reported by local media last month.
“Far-left Democrats who support political violence and the assassination of President Trump are a disgrace and unfit to represent the great people of the North Country,” Stefanik told Fox News Digital.
“Potsdam City Council Member Christine Page must be censured by the New York State Democratic Party and resign in disgrace for saying shooting President Trump would be like ‘culling a rabid dog.'”

Screenshots of now-deleted Facebook comments viewed by Fox News Digital showed Page responding to a post about the assassination attempt, saying, “I have seen no hard evidence that he is a human being. Maybe you know something that we don’t. To me, that’s like culling a dog that has rabies.”
Potsdam City Council Supervisor Marty Miller, a Democrat, fired back in a lengthy media statement, saying Page’s comments “were not shared in any way with the rest of the City Council.”

“I can say firsthand that this selfish act for one individual’s gratification has been a nightmare for me and the other members of the board over the past few weeks,” Miller said, adding that the town council has been inundated with “phone calls, voicemails and emails” about the matter.
But Miller noted that the town council cannot remove a member from office, and he supported Stefanik’s reelection, calling her a “strong” leader in a statement to Fox News Digital.
But Page said he has no plans to resign. movie.
